Overview

Lambert International Airport of St. Louis is conveniently located when it comes to car rent. The airport borders Interstate 70 at its southern edge, and major rent-a-car garages are lined on Natural Bridge Road, which runs alongside Interstate 70. Access to Interstate 70 from Natural Bridge Road is the matter of seconds. And it takes less than five minutes to get to a major rental car garage once you have its shuttle at the airport.

As of spring 2015, rental car counters are located at Terminal One, between Exit Doors 12 and 17. And rent-a-car shuttles stop near Exit Door 17. Conveniently, rental car counters are on the same level as the baggage claim, not so far from it. So, after getting your luggage, you simply walk to the counter of a rental car company of your choice, and are done with all necessary paperwork. Then, get out at Exit Door 17 and wait there until a shuttle comes to pick you up. The shuttle takes you to the garage, where your car waits for you at the spot that is printed on your ticket. AVIS shows the spot by aisle letter and two-digit car identification number.

When hiring a rental car, you should know about FPO or Fuel Purchase Option beforehand. This is a rent-a-car jargon for opting for a vehicle with the gas filled up. This is convenient because you don't need to try to find a gas station in the place you really don't know. But you have to pay much higher price for that. AVIS/Budget

AVIS and Budget share the garage. They share the airport counter too. As far as I know, only one agent almost always sits behind the counter and takes care of the customers for the both rent-a-car companies.

エイビスとバジェットはガレージを共有しています。空港のカウンターも共有です。私の知る限り、ほとんどいつも係の人がひとりだけ空港のカウンターにいて、両方のレンタカーのために取り次ぎをしています。

The garage for AVIS/Budget is located closest to the airport. Traveling time to the garage is therefore very short, probably just a couple of minutes. And it is very close to Hilton Hotel At the Airport. So, when you stay at this hotel, AVIS or Budget would be the best choice.

エイビス、バジェットのカレージは空港から最も近いところにあります。従ってそこまでの所要時間はとても短く、恐らくは２分くらいでしょう。しかもヒルトンホテルのごく近くなのでこのホテルに泊る時はエイビス、バジェットは最適かも知れません。

Hertz

A rent-a-car company whose garage is located next closest to the airport is Hertz. The shuttle takes you to the garage in a few minutes.

エイビスの次に空港に近いガレージを持つのはハーズです。シャトルに乗れば３分ほどでガレージです。

Another advantage of Hertz is that it is close to a lot of lodges with reasonable prices. You have Quality Inn right next to its garage. You also have Econo Lodge and America's Best Value Inn. If you want to have a little better lodging, Holiday Inn waits for you right next to America's Best Value Inn.

ハーズのもうひとつの利点は合理的な価格帯の宿泊施設に近い点です。カレージのすぐ隣がクオリティ・インですし、エコノ・ロッジやベストバリュー・インにも隣接しています。もう少し格上の宿泊施設がよければ、ベストバリュー・インの隣でホリデー・インが待っています。

There are some cheap restaurants in this area. For instance, you have Golden Pancake just next to Quality Inn. Across from the street, in a few minutes'walk, you also have a small roadside shopping center where you will find a Mexican restaurant, a Italian restaurant, and an American style diner. You will find Subway on the way there, too.

この付近にはいくつか合理的価格のレストランもあります。例えばクオリティ・インの真横にはゴールデン・パンケーキがありますし、通りの反対側、数分歩いた場所にちいさなショッピング・センターがあって、そこにはメキシコ料理やイタリア料理の店、そしてアメリカン・ダイナーもあります。この場所に来る途中にはサンドイッチのサブウェイもあります。

You will also find a few gas stations near this garage. After checking out a rental car, you simply drive eastwards on Natural Bridge Road. Literally in a couple of minutes you will first find a Phillips 66 station on the right, then a Shell on the left. These two gas stations are really next to each other.

このガレージの近くにはガソリンスタンドもあります。レンタカーを借り出した後、ナチュラル・ブリッジロードをそのまま東向きに進みます。すると、文字通り１，２分後にまずフィリップス６６を右手に、次にシェルを左手に見つけることになります。この２つのスタンドはお互い隣接しています。

Another option for finding a gas station is, you turn right at the first intersection that you have after leaving the garage. This is the intersection of Natural Bridge Road and Woodson Road, and it's very close to the garage. After the right turn, you drive a couple of minutes. You will see a Seven Eleven convenience store on the left. This Seven Eleven has a pump.

ガソリンスタンドを見つけるもうひとつの手は、ガレージを出て最初の交差点を右に曲がることです。この交差点はナチュラル・ブリッジロードとウッドソン・ロードの交差点で、ガレージのすぐ近くにあります。１，２分走ると左手にセブン・イレブンが見えます。このコンビニには給油所もあります。

National/Alamo

National and Alamo share the garage, the entrance of which is a bit hard to find. After passing Hertz' garage, you will come to the T-shaped intersection of Natural Bridge Road and Woodson Road. Even though the exit of the National/Alamo garage faces Natural Bridge Road that you are still on, the entrance is on the opposite lane of Woodson Road. So the shuttle first turns right at the intersection and enters Woodson Road. Then it u-turns at some point on Woodson to enter the opposite lane and then turn right to the entrance.

ナショナルレンタカーとアラモレンタカーもカレージを共有していますが、その入口は少し見つけにくいです。ハーズのガレージを通過すると、ナチュラル・ブリッジロードとウドソン・ロードのＴ字路にでます。ナショナル・アラモのカレージの出口は今走っているナチュラル・ブリッジロードに面していますが、入口はウドソンロードの反対車線に面しているのです。それでシャトルはまずＴ字路を右にまがりウドソンロードに入ります。次に、シャトルはウドソンロードのある地点でＵターンして反対車線にはいり、右折してガレージの入口に向かいます。

The garages of Hertz and National/Alamo actually face each other with Woodson Road lying inbetween. So National/Alamo has the same advantages as Hertz has in terms of lodging, eating spots and gas stations. So refer to the Hertz section about these topics.

I rented a car at this Alamo a few years ago and an agent who took care of me was a really nice woman. Based on that experience, the customer service of the Alamo seems to be above average. Even though the price range of Alamo is a little bit higher than some other rent-a-car companies. hiring a car from Alamo would be a good choice if your budget permits.

Enterprise

When I was in Knoxville, TN as a Ph.D. candidate, I hired Enterprise several times. And everytime I did it, I had a good impression of the workers there. They were all young and energetic. They were helpful and polite too. The price was also reasonable. So, my first choice would have been Enterprice here in St. Louis too if one problem had not made me hesitant to that. And the problem is, the garage was too far from the airport.

But recently they moved their St. Louis Airport garage closer to the aiport. This new location is actually what used to be a Budget garage, and is right next to the hotel that I used to stay when I visited St. Louis. The hotel was called Comfort Inn St. Louis Airport and Conference Center.

しかし最近エンタープライズはセントルイス空港のガレージを空港のより近くへと移動しました。新しい場所はかつてバジェット・レンタカーのカレージだったところで、私がセントルイスを訪れた時泊ったホテルの真横になります。そのホテルはコンフォート・イン・セントルイス空港コンファレンス・センターと呼ばれていました。

But Choice Hotels (which owns all Comfort Inns) sold this hotel to Clarion a few years ago probably because of the start of its decay, and Clarion then sold it to Ramada! Has anything positive been brought by this? Nothing particularly as far as I read TripAdvisor reviews.

ところが（コンフォート・インを所有する）チョイスホテルは、恐らく老朽化の始まりのゆえに、このホテルをクラリオンに売却してしまい、クラリオンは更にラマダへと売却してしまいました。これで何かいいことがもたらされたでしょうか。トリップアドバイザーのレビューを見る限り特段の好転はないようです。

Anyway, it is a good thing that Enterprise now has their garage at a place closer to the airport. Because of this, it takes tourists less than ten minutes to get to the garage from the airport. The hotel next to it is still a problem. But when the hotel renovation is completed, the value of Enterprise at Lambert Airport will rise a lot.

いずれにせよ、エンタープライズがいまや空港により近い場所にガレージを持っていることは良いことです。利用客が空港からガレージに行くのに１０分足らずになるからです。ガレージ横のホテルは依然として問題ですが、その改築が完成すればランバート国際空港のエンタープライズの価値は大いに上昇するでしょう。
